Collision A Clue To Hot Heavenly Body

When you receive the Seal you will look in awe at the wonders of the universe. One such wonder is quite a strange heavenly body--a planet that seems to be the remains of two planets that collided.

Astronomers are puzzled about this planet, named 2M1207B. It defies any explanation currently known. The location and age are not explainable by anything astronomers know, and neither are the temperature and luminosity.
Of course astronomers are trying to explain the strange phenomenon, an object that is strange and "requires a strange explanation." And yet the explanation is still a theory.

If you look in the area of the constellation Centaurus in the night sky, you will be able to see a brown dwarf star named 2M1207A. This star is known to be relatively young, at an age of 8 million years.

So 2M1207B, the planet revolving around that brown dwarf, is no older than it. According to what astronomers know of the temperature of planets, the age of the planet indicates that it should be no hotter than 1300 degrees Fahrenheit.

But astronomers have found that 2M1207B is actually much hotter. It actually registers at 2400 degrees F. And the only way they know to explain this high temperature is that it was caused by a protoplanetary collision.

Astronomers are also puzzled by the luminosity of the planet. Because it is so hot it is supposed to be more luminous. But it is 10 times more faint than it is supposed to be.

Previously they theorized that a dusty disk is obscuring the luminosity of the planet. But now some astronomers have a new theory: the planet is smaller than thought with a smaller surface area radiating energy.

These astronomers believe 2M1207B has a radius of just over 30,000 miles. So it is comparable in size to Saturn in our own solar system, which is 37,000 miles in radius.

And how could it be so hot millions of years after its birth? It must have collided with another planet, and that huge collision must have happened relatively recently so the heat from the collision is still radiating from it.

These collisions are known to happen. They happened in our own solar system. In fact it is believed that our own moon of the planet earth was formed when the earth hit an object with 10 percent of its mass.

So the theory is that 2M1207B, about the size of Saturn, hit a planet about 3 times as big as earth. And when the planets collided, according to the theory, they stuck together!

It is thought that it would take 100,000 years for the heat generated by the planet to dissipate away. So this collision must have happened recently and is a rare treat; it is an unlikely event, against the odds of happening.

The senior astronomer for SETI, Seth Shostak, offered hope to the Coast to Coast Community on the program 1-16-8 and reassured prospective space miners their due should they discover an "anomaly". Also, any real signal anomaly picked up initially by one of the 5,000,000 computer geeks working with SETI by using their computers to process data is guaranteed to be recognized for their discovery if it is concluded that it is deemed something from an extraterrestrial civilization. The most famous diamonds in the world carry with them rich histories of the fortune and calamity of the lives which they have touched throughout time. Some world renowned diamonds have made the journey through the hands of royalty over centuries while others have only been unearthed in recent decades. Here we examine a few of the most coveted diamonds that have ever been discovered.

-The Hope Diamond: Perhaps the most well-known diamond in the United States, the Hope diamond endured hundreds of years and passed through several owners before it was donated by Harry Winston Inc. to the Smithsonian Institution in 1958. This 45.52 carat dark grayish blue cushion antique cut diamond has long been thought to bestow upon its owners a curse of tragedy and misfortune.

-The Cullinan Diamond: The largest rough diamond ever unearthed, the original Cullinan was discovered in South Africa in 1905 and weighed an astonishing 3,106 carats. The Cullinan diamond, named after the owner of the mining company where it was discovered, was later cut into 105 diamonds, the most notable of which is the pear shaped Cullinan I, also known as the Star of Africa diamond, weighing 530.2 carats. For many years the Star of Africa was known as the largest cut diamond in the world, though in recent years this record has been surpassed by The Golden Jubilee, at 545.67 carats, and a nameless fancy black diamond weighing in at 555.55 carats.

-The Regent Diamond: Thought by many to be the most stunning diamond worldwide, the perfectly cut Regent Diamond has a history of both prestige and voracity. The Regent was originally called the Pitt after Sir Thomas Pitt, a governor who purchased the diamond in the 1700s and had it cut and polished into the cushion shaped, 140.5 carat diamond in the French Royal Treasury today. Becoming known as the Regent in 1717 when it was purchased for the French Crown, the Regent Diamond has adorned the Crown of Louis XV and the sword of Napoleon Bonaparte.

-The Centenary Diamond: Esteemed by diamond connoisseurs for its purity and color, the Centenary Diamond was discovered at the Premier Mine in July of 1986. Weighing 599.10 carats in the rough, the Centenary Diamond was carefully cut by Gabi Tolkowsky into the present day 273.85 carat modern cut flawless diamond residing since 1991 at the Tower of London.

-The Orlov (sometimes called Orloff): This uniquely shaped diamond was set in the Imperial Sceptre during the reign of Catherine the Great in the late 1700s. The shape of this bluish green tinted diamond weighing in at 189.62 carats has been widely likened to that of half of a pigeonâ€™s egg. The distinctive shape of the Orlov leads many to believe that there exists a counterpart that has yet to be discovered.

Technology is playing an ever-increasing role in our daily lives. From the cars we drive, the homes we live in and the places we work and learn, we are faced with technology by the bucket load, aiming to improve efficiency and encourage competitiveness on a modern scale. The fact of the matter is, today technology is an irretrievable constant in our daily lives. Tell people to live without their cell phones and they'll laugh in your face. Tell someone he can't send that email, and again he'll be shocked. Technology is here to stay, big time, and it's really making its mark on the way we live our lives.

For example, think about your workplace. Even before you get in the door you'll come across modern technology, with car parking ticket dispensers, and door entry systems. When you get to your desk, the first thing you see? Yep, the computer. Even this monstrosity is betraying a vast network of technology underneath, linking it to other machines in your organization to allow you to print and share access to certain files. On your desk will also be an advanced calling system, and probably loads of other gadgets to boot. In fact, they're so engrained in our daily lives, it's hard to think how we survived before they existed.

Society today has gone down a dangerous path. We've placed far too much reliance on the machine and computer storage which has proven to be unreliable at times, as with all man made creations. The fact is with such a reliance on mechanical systems, we are jeopardizing whole hosts of vital information and operations which could result in major problems should systems fail dramatically. In this instant information generation, we are lacking the key ingredient of certainty which is so vital in storing our information.

Additionally, this societal movement towards technology is inevitably transpiring as a problematic area for youth, who grow up confused and in doubt as to effective written communication. This also gives rise to problems as far as grammatical and syntactical reasoning are concerned, which may have untold effects on generations to come.

Technology is clearly an asset in some respects, yet causes obvious problems in other circumstances, and has the potential to do so in the long run. It is necessary that we continue research into stable technologies to avoid putting all our metaphorical eggs in one basket, to provide the security and stability necessary for future commerce and society.

How To Refine Silver Using Household Chemicals

Throughout history silver has played a major role in all aspects of society. It has been used as a metal of choice for currencies, barter and trade. The bourgeois used it as a metering wealth status. Advances in medicine, electronics and others, are made largely to unique properties of silver. Silver, along side with gold, are the two precious metals sought after. The supplies are dwindling, while the demand is reaching an all time high.

Not surprisingly, the price of silver has more than tripled in recent years. Both silver and gold are the commodity to hedge against the falling dollar. It is becoming a "must-have" in personal investment portfolios.

Scrap silver is all around us. It comes from variety of sources with diversified metal purity. This article is designed to refine your own silver using readily available household chemicals. The methods you are about to be introduced to will produce more than 99% of pure silver!

The first step in refining is to dissolve the silver. The best way is to use dilute Nitric Acid. Good concentration is around 40 - 50%. Concentrated Nitric Acid is one chemical that will be hard to obtain.

Since 9/11 the availability of Nitric Acid has been drastically reduced and for a good reason. Nitric Acid is one of the main components to make explosives.

For our refining purpose we will need relatively small amount of Nitric Acid. To make this, we will use concentrated Sulfuric Acid. Sulfuric Acid is commonly used as a liquid drain opener, readily available from any hardware store. The one that we will use is more than 95 percent pure. The second ingredient needed is Sodium Nitrate. It is readily available fertilizer from any gardening store.

Pour 200ml of hot distilled water to a pre-heated 1liter Pyrex container, 1 quart mason jar will work. Add approx. 400 gm of Sodium Nitrate to dissolve (Potassium Nitrate can be used as well). Once the Nitrate is completely dissolved allow it to cool down well below the boiling point, but still hot. To this solution SLOWLY add 110 ml conc. Sulfuric Acid while stirring. Do not allow the solution to boil. Cool the solution to room temperature.

Place the jar in the freezer and allow the solution to reach ~ -5 degrees Celsius. Once all of the precipitate has settled, pour off the solution to a glass container with a tightly sealed lid. Discard the precipitate. (Make sure not to transfer any of the sulfate salt) You have just made over 300ml of ~ 50% Nitric Acid.

Fair Word Of Caution! You are dealing with concentrated acids. Take all safety precautions when dealing with concentrated acids. Make sure you wear rubber gloves, face shield and protective clothing. If you spill any of the acid, wash with plenty of water.

To refine Silver, dissolve several ounces of scrap metal in Nitric Acid. This will take some time, but make sure that all of the metal is in solution. Heating the solution will speed up the reaction. Do Not Boil.

Filter the solution using several coffee filters, keeping the clear solution. The Silver dissolved is in the form of Silver Nitrate.

The easiest way to get the Silver to drop out of the solution is to use Copper. Copper pipe, plate or any piece of solid copper will do. Suspend the Copper, using household twine in the acid solution. A white-grayish precipitate will start to accumulate around the copper. Tap gently the suspended Copper, and the Silver precipitate will sink to the bottom. What you are doing here is replacing the Silver Nitrate with Copper Nitrate, causing Silver to drop out of the solution.

Allow the solution to sit overnight and all of the precipitate will settle to the bottom.

The remaining solution should be crystal-blue in color. If not, use more Copper to get all of the Silver out. Filter the solution using several coffee filters, this time keeping the precipitate. Wash it several times using distilled water. There should not be any blue Copper Nitrate around the filter. Discard the spent solution and dry the filtrate. This precipitate is Silver. Place the dry precipitate in a crucible or a small graphite container. In a circular motion, using a torch, melt the precipitate in nuggets or the desired shape.

The Future is not Star Trek

I have always loved Star Trek, from the original series beginning in 1969 to the ever present reruns on television just about any day. Admirable characters, a stern but humane Starfleet code to live by, lots of action (but no gore) and the wonder of new frontiers. Traveling in glistening starships several hundred years in the future, facing all types of dangers. Great television, but the reality we are spiraling into will be very different.

First consider the Enterprise crew; basically, they are no different than you or me. Okay, Mr. Data is the exception, but all the others are plain old biological humans, even if wearing Vulcan ears. It's as if technology hadn't progressed over the next centuries. Sure, the hardware is more sophisticated ï¿½ï¿½" phasors instead of pistols ï¿½ï¿½" but everything seems very familiar.

Consider Captain Picard, the leader of the Enterprise. First of all, he looks like your old high school math teacher. Medium build, medium height, hair just about gone. Nice guy, pretty smart, but no exceptional or unusual powers. Not directly linked to computer intelligence, no implants to enhance his senses, no nanobots in the bloodstream regulating biological processes. Bor-ing!

By the way, how old is Picard? I always wondered about that. With the wrinkles and the hair, he looks late forties, but it's hard to tell. Actually, nobody in the crew seems very old. Hey, they all act age appropriate, and from their conversations, it seems everyone is in the twenty to forty range. It appears they experience about the same aging process as we do here in the first decade of the twenty-first century.

Now that's just ridiculous. In 1900, the average lifespan was about forty-nine years, while now it's pushing eighty. As science continues to learn more about human biological processes, we will develop cures for many of the diseases that cut our lives short. In addition, we will develop a much better understanding of the aging process, enabling us to tune up our bodies and stretch out normal lifespans. Tiny nanobots in our cells will monitor, report and regulate many of our biological processes. By the middle of this century, the average lifespan in the developed nations should be well over one hundred years.

Our bodies will change dramatically during the next few decades. Hell, it's already happening. Look at all the mechanical replacements now available. Hip, shoulder, elbow, tooth, artery and knee replacements are commonplace. Contact lenses and hearing aids enhance our senses. Mechanical legs allow the severely injure to walk, even run, again. I've seen a paralyzed man control his personal computer through thoughts that interface with a network.

How much will we accomplish during the next few decades? Well, for one thing, we will be able to replace virtually any part of our skeleton system. Bone broken, joints wearing out? Replace them. Want to think faster, move with more agility? The nanobots in our cells can become a computer network that responds hundreds of times faster than our neurons. Need more and better information at your fingertips? Forget about fingertips. A wireless interface between nanobots in your brain and computer databanks will allow you pull down whatever processed information you need. How about a second heart? A mechanical heart could reduce the pumping load on your biological heart, maybe take over during a heart attack. Better yet, eliminate the need for a heart with blood cells that power their own mobility.

But that's just the start. Artificial intelligence will eventually dominate biological intelligence. And let me cue you in, it's a short eventually. Here's what I mean. You brain processes information relatively slowly. Computer hardware is already much faster and the difference is growing year by year. On a pure horsepower basis, AI beats the brain's processing. Of course, you need much more than fast computer hardware, the software has to be in place, too.

Let's separate AI into two classes, weak AI and strong AI. Strong AI is general purpose intelligence, the ability to handle a wide variety of tasks at the same or higher level than a human. Weak AI is designed to process a very limited number of tasks, for instance, playing chess or walking. Strong AI is still some years away, maybe decades, but weak AI is available in many areas. Most of us know that IBM's Big Blue computer can defeat the best human chess players. Robots can hit a baseball or dance (check out my videos), although not at the level of the best humans. Not yet, anyway.

However, it's clear that we are only a few decades from seeing very intelligent computers approach and then exceed human intelligence. Humans will need to link into networked AI just to stay competitive with our computers. But that's just delaying the inevitable. In the end, our biological brains won't cut it. Blood and flesh is just too slow and inflexible. In the second half of this century, we will be able to download our personal intelligence into robots. Mr. Data isn't too bad an example of what humanity will become.

But the story doesn't end there. Mr. Data's brain, while much faster than a human brain, is still constrained by limited size. A networked intelligence will outperform a single Mr. Data, so that's the direction science will drive us. Maybe Star Trek has a pretty good example, after all. It's called the Borg.

Please realize a networked intelligence need not be evil. The Borg could very easily be a beneficial superintelligence, with all units working toward a good purpose. Or many good purposes. Each individual would very likely retain his or her unique personality, rather than being stamped out of one mold. A diverse set of androids networked together would seem to have greater survival capabilities than one individual repeated over and over.

And it would be a lot more fun. Imagine how close you would become to the people you love. In addition to the physical intimacy we now enjoy with our flesh and blood bodies, think about the emotional intimacy of joining your lover's mind through the net. Step aside, Vulcan mind-meld! Misunderstandings would be cleared up, feelings and thoughts immediately transmitted and received. I could describe the sex, but it's not that kind of article.

Deep Sea Creatures Keep Life Living Everywhere Else

When you receive the Seal you will begin to care for the environment of the earth. Researchers have recently found that the whole ecosystem of the earth depends on the life on the ocean floor.

9 out of 10 of all living creatures on the bottom of the ocean are nematodes. And they account for most of the life on the whole earth too. The biodiversity of those nematodes makes the whole ecosystem work better.

The ecosystem of the oceans functions exponentially better when there are more diverse kinds of nematodes on the bottom of the ocean floor, according to this new study.

On the dry land of the earth there is a more linear relationship between biodiversity and the ecosystem. But in the deep sea, biodiversity exponentially increases the "efficiency" of the ecosystem.

And "efficiency" is how well the ecosystem gets energy from food sources. So the creatures in the deep sea (and therefore the rest of the oceans) are complementary to one other in the community.

The biosphere is the ecosystem of the whole earth, seas, dry land, and atmosphere. The biosphere is highly dependent on the life of the ocean floor, which sustains the life of the rest of the ocean and then the whole biosphere.

One thing ocean life is doing is sustaining the make-up of the atmosphere and warding off any worse effects of the pollution people are putting into the air. So deep-sea ocean life is vital to fighting global warming.

In global warming, greenhouse gases and mainly carbon dioxide, are blamed for causing a "greenhouse effect" where warmth is trapped in the atmosphere where it should be escaping.

As temperatures rise just a little bit, the global consequences are devastating. There has been a sharp rise in windstorms, droughts, and floods. The hurricanes of 2005 (like Katrina) that hit the United States are examples of bad weather caused by global warming.

Unfortunately the life that is holding together the biosphere of the earth is now considered particularly vulnerable to the climate change of global warming. That is what a recent study shows.

An unusual warming in the eastern Mediterranean was studied and researchers found "extensive" change in deep-sea biodiversity as a result. To make it clear, there was less biodiversity and not more.

Less biodiversity on the ocean floor means less efficient feeding in the rest of the ocean. That will upset the delicate balance of the ecosystem of the ocean. And when that happens our main weapon against global warming is useless.

When you are sealed you will start to care for the environment. When God seals you He plants a little garden in you. His purpose is that you bear fruit for Him. But there is another result of the garden.

You begin to understand the ecosystem of the whole earth since you are a little model of the earth in your garden. And when you see anything threaten that, you see it just like a threat to your garden.

Just like you do not want anything to interfere with what God is doing for you, you do not need anything destroying the ecosystem of the earth either. Global warming will ruin the earth.

So when you are sealed you will begin to care for the earth. Because what threatens the earth now is similar to what threatens your status as the chosen of God. And you do not want that. You want to receive the Seal.

Herod The Great-Ancient Mountain Military Post Found

When you receive the Seal you will believe in the biblical accounts of history. Much of the history of the Bible has been proven by archaeological digs, and a recent dig has uncovered another fortress of Herod the Great.

Herod the Great is the king infamous for killing all the male children in Bethlehem. The three wise men came from the East seeking the Christ-child. When Herod heard this child was to be born in Bethlehem, he ordered all those children slain.

Herod was a power-mad king. The historian Josephus adds many more stories of his carnage. He even killed two of his own sons since they could be heirs to his throne.

He would not tolerate anyone who might usurp his power. Not even his own children. And many other acts of cruelty like these done by Herod were recorded. You can see how he would slaughter the innocent infants of Bethlehem.

Herod the Great was born sometime close to 73 BC. His father Antipater the Idumean was poisoned and Herod had to execute his killer with the support of the Romans.

Herod was married to Doris and had a young son when he decided to marry his niece Mariamne. He exiled Doris but in a typical act of brutality he executed Mariamne along with his two sons.

The first great temple in Jerusalem was Solomon's Temple. That was destroyed when the Bablylonians came and took Jerusalem captive. Herod built the great Second Temple.

Herod was not considered a true Jewish person by the religious authorities of his day but he was always famous for building the Second Temple, or Herod's Temple.

The Second Temple was the great temple of Jerusalem in the days of Jesus. It was the temple Jesus spoke of when he said that not one stone would be found upon another, but the whole would be ruined.

And the Second Temple was destroyed in 70 AD. It happened when the Jewish people came to strife with the Romans during the Great Jewish Revolt. But when the temple was destroyed the revolt also ended.

A recent archaeological dig has uncovered another great fortress built by Herod, this one high in the mountains in the East Jordan. The architecture is similar to that of the Alexandreion built by Herod in the West Jordan.

So this new building is believed to be built by Herod. Herod reigned over the West Jordan. But this new building shows that he also established his presence in the East Jordan.

He would have been able to control the traffic in the Middle Jordan Valley and that was how he could control the ways to get to and from the East Jordan from the West.

The building was a military outpost, a "casemate" which means it had walls fortified through which weapons could be fired. It was a strategic position establishing the presence of Herod in the East, in the outer reaches of his kingdom.

When you are sealed you will begin to see new wonders of the Bible. Some of these new wonders are yet to be confirmed in digs under the earth. These are treasures proving the history as far as it can be proven from remaining evidence.

When you are sealed God plants a little garden in you. So as that garden you are just like a little earth, and inside you are hidden all the treasures found in the pages of the Bible. You can begin to dig up those treasures when you receive the Seal.

Goodbye Animal Testing-Hello Health By Biochips

When you receive the Seal you will begin to care both about your health and about the environment. A new technology promises that a lot of animal testing can be eliminated and at the same time make it much cheaper for new drugs to come to market.

The new technology involves biochips, the MetaChip and the DataChip. These biochips act just like the body act when it takes a drug. They will be able to show whether there are any toxic side-effects of taking the drug.

As high as 70 percent of new drugs being developed have to be scrapped because they are toxic to the body. But this is not discovered until after each drug cost hundreds of millions of dollars in research money.

These biochips promise to eliminate all that wasted cost in drug development. And they promise to eliminate much of the unethical experimenting currently done on animals.

The European Union has banned all such testing on animals and that is set to begin in 2009. At that time there will be quite a market opened up for the biochips.

The biochips are glass slides dotted with tiny droplets of enzymes from the human body. The MetaChip has liver enzymes. It can show whether a drug is toxic to the liver.

The DataChip contains enzymes from the bladder or kidney as well as the liver. Those can also be tested for toxicity. And if there is any toxicity it will be found much earlier in the drug trial process, saving huge amounts of money.

Animal testing is not just unethical. Its accuracy is also dubious. There is always a question of whether humans will have the same reaction animals have. It can give a general idea, but nothing specific enough.

The biochips show how humans will react. And yet what is being developed now is still not specific enough of testing. The researchers have big dreams for biochips, including "personalized" testing.

In the future, every sick person can have his or her own biochips made from enzymes from his or her body. That way drugs can be tested for their reaction with that individual person, not for all people in general.

This heralds and important development in medicine--the "personalization" of medical treatment. In the future drugs can be chosen and even developed for individuals or smaller, more specific groups of people. Drugs currently are developed for everyone and anyone.

And that is not good. People vary widely in their genetics and predispositions to disease. Their chemical make-ups are different. So why not treat them differently, since they are different?

That is what this new technology promises, although we are not there yet. This is only the beginning. Another dream researchers have is the dream of including more organs in the biochips.

In the future all the organs can be tested, including the heart, the brain, and the skin. This will give a more holistic picture of the reaction of the body of a person to a particular drug.

When you are sealed you will begin to notice your health and the environment too. God will show you how to both extend your life and take care so you do not destroy the earth when you receive the Seal.

Study Says Obesity "Obeys" Genetics-But You Can Still Lose The Weight

When you receive the Seal you will begin to take better care of your health. That means eating right. But you may have a genetic inclination to eat too much, according to a new study.

There is a protein called brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) that has been found to regulate appetite in the brain of mice. It was previously known to work with young mice but now has been shown to work for adults too.

That is important because it indicates what can be done to treat the disease of obesity. In America, 25 percent of the population is thought to be suffering from a mutation in the gene that should produce BDNF.

If that gene is mutated, as often happens with some genes in the human genome, then the protein will not be produced. And the protein is essential to regulating appetite, so without it people will tend to eat too much.

The mice were studied when BDNF had been deleted from their brains. Without the BDNF the mice ate too much and became obese. But when their food supply was limited they lost the extra weight.

So lacking BDNF is lacking nature's own appetite suppressant. Without enough of the protein you will want to eat more than you need. But if you can not get the extra food you will not gain any extra weight.

There are other factors in obesity and weight gain--physiological factors. There is an energy balance between how many calories are taken in and how many calories are burned as energy.

But when the waists were measured without considering the corresponding size of the hips, the risk of heart disease was underestimated by one-fifth to almost two-fifths.

When the hip size of men increased around 2.5 inches compared to their waists, their risk of heart disease went down 20 percent. Women needed about a 3.5 inch increase in hip size compared to waist for a 20 percent risk reduction.

This study shows the importance of losing that excess weight. Obesity puts people at higher risk for a variety of serious diseases including heart disease.

But people with big bellies and little hips often are not considered obese. They are thought to just have a little belly fat. But the more contrast there is between belly and waist size the more likely heart disease, even for those who are not much overweight.

When you receive the Seal you will understand the value of human life. Now (Jan 12 2008) human embryo stem cells have been produced from embryos without destroying the embryos.

In the last few months of 2007 there were breakthroughs in producing cells that were very much like human embryo stem cells (hESC) from ordinary skin cells. That was a tremendous breakthrough itself.

But hESC is still considered the "gold standard" for research and is still considered highly valuable and even necessary for research. Now thanks to this new research, it is possible to create hESC without killing embryos.

In 2006 a study showed that hESC could be derived from a single blastomere. A blastomere is the kind of cell created by the embryo in the very first week following fertilization when the embryo begins to divide.

But in that first study in 2006, many cells were taken out of each embryo so that they could not develop anymore. In this study, researchers derived five hESC lines without destroying the embryos, including one without co-culture.

Co-culture is the growth of distinct cell types in a combined culture. This meant that stem cells were needed from other embryos that ended up being destroyed. Co-culture is not a necessary part of this new procedure.

In this procedure, single blastomeres were taken out of the embryos using a process similar to preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD.) PGD is a procedure whereby embryos are made free of disease before implantation.

The "biopsied" embryos were further grown until they became blastocysts and then were frozen (instead of killed.) A biopsy is the removal of cells from the embryo, and the blastocyst stage is right after the zygote stage and before the embryo is known as an "embryo."

The blastomeres were cultured with a technique that was comparable in efficiency to "whole embryo derivations" which destroy the embryos. This is important--the high level of efficiency makes it a viable procedure.

And the derived stem cell lines had the same kind of pluripotency as whole embryo derivations. Pluripotency is the ability of the stem cell to become a cell of any of the three germ layers--ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm.

The White House still needs to approve this new technique as a way to get stem cells without destroying the embryos. But this is a major advancement in science--a step forward for the sanctity of life.

This is a solution to the ethical problem of stem-cell research, since embryos can now "share" their life-giving cells with researchers who desperately need them, and still grow up to be healthy adults.

When you are sealed you will begin to understand the sanctity of life. You will understand how God gave Life to people in the beginning and continues to give Life to them.

Of course, the greater kind of life is spiritual Life. The life in this world is a gift from God but the spiritual Life for eternity in Heaven is the ultimate gift and much better than the short and miserable opportunity in this world.

When you are sealed God will give you new life. He will give you a second chance. And He will give you the chance to live forever with Him in Heaven when you receive the Seal.

The Egyptian preists, according to the the Atlantis narrative, Timea, said that Orichac (Amber) was mined on Basileia in great quantities.

Basileia was the capital of Atlantis and lay just off the Danish Coast.

The Egyptians said it gleamed lie fire and that the Atlanteans covered the walls of their temple with it.

The area between Heligoland and Eiderstedt was the Amber country of the Ancient world.

The Eider River was used to ship the Amber all over the world. It is on the west coast of the Cimbrian Peninsula, that is the present day Jutland..

The Amber Routes of Pre-Columbian Times led to the North Sea Coast.

To this day, Amber is often washed up on the west coast of Jutland. Pieces of Amber, pendants, animal figures, were fashioned by the work of primitive implements thousands of years ago. The "Gold of the North," is being gathered by the ton on the North Coast of the Eiderstedt Peninsula, on the banks of the River Hever. The 1968, dyke construction has caused a "Gold Rush" of Amber.

Many of the locals are finding big pieces. A boy from the village of Odenswort, found a large piece weighing 2KG and sold it for well over 2000 DM.

Fisherman who sink their nets in, pull up Amber in this area.

In the Greek states and in Rome, Amber was worth it's weight in gold.

In Egypt, Amber was worked together with gold into costly necklaces.

The breast ornament of Pharaoh Tutankhamen, died 1352 BC, was solid gold. And it contained large Amber drops. Why didn't the Smithsonian tell the thousands of visitors who came to the exhibit, that the Amber was brought to Ancient Egypt by our Ancestors, the North Sea Peoples?

In a tomb inscription at the time of Thutmose III (about 1500 BC), an inscription tells us: An embassy from the Haunebu (North Sea People), from the Northern lands at the end of the world, brought with them 8943 pounds of Amber!

It was used to decorate temples and Obelisks.

The Egyptians said 'Amber is the fruit of the eye of Ra (The Sun God.) The Gods live in it's sweet scent; and it's color is like Gold.

The Greeks believed that Amber was 'the many tears that Apollo shed for his Son Aesculapius when he visited the Sacred people of the North.

Homer said that the Hall of Menelaus gleams with Copper, Gold, Amber, silver and ivory.

Amber has been found in Cretan graves, in Tholo's Tomb in western Greece, and in the inner-Avatolian Chieftains tomb.

The Assyrians too knew that Amber came from the North Sea.

The health-giving and protective power ascribed to Amber derives from it's magnetic property, and gives it it's name, Electron, for Aleco = I Protect.

Amber was held in high esteem by the ancients and they gave our Viking ancestors Gold in exchange for it. The North Sea Amber is called the "Gold of the North."

Amber trade vanished suddenly and totally after 1200 BC, along with the sinking of Atlantis.

The original Atlantis narrative was written in a non-Egyptian language. Our Atlantean (North Sea peoples) told the Egyptians the story and they in turn translated it into Egyptian.

With the way the energy crisis is growing, soon the fossil fuels that we rely on will be gone or so overpriced, that very few people will be able to afford it. Researchers have been creating new and innovating ways to create energy out of the natural resources that Mother Nature provides. Even though the wind has been a source of power for hundreds of years, it is not until recent decades that it was considered on a large scale. There are many different types of natural resources that researchers have found promising, however, wind power is the most promising and least expensive renewable power source. There is however a downside to wind power; its variable nature because wind doesn't always blow researchers must determine the effects it will have, however, wind power has been determined to be stable, because its cost does not fluctuate with the price of fuel.

Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into useful form, such as electricity, using wind turbines. It is used in large-scale wind farms and for national electrical grids as well as in small individual turbines for providing electricity to rural residences where traditional power is not offered.

Wind power is versatile when air moves, causing wind, it has kinetic energy--the energy created whenever mass is in motion. It is especially helpful here in the winter to capture both the ferocious and gentle mountain winds during the times of least sunlight and highest power use.

Wind Power is clean and renewable type of energy, and should be considered an important component of any long-term energy strategy. This is because wind power generation uses a natural and virtually inexhaustible source of power, (the wind) to produce electricity.

Wind power is an affordable, efficient and inexhaustible source of electricity. It is set to become an important means of generating electricity worldwide. Wind power has become the world's fastest growing energy source, It a viable, robust, fast-growing industry. Is there panic in the air?

The War of the Worlds is a science fiction novel about a Martian invasion of Earth. Originally written by George Herbert Wells in 1898, it was later adapted by Orson Welles and broadcast as a radio drama.

The program was aired on October 20, 1938. It had been an eventful year, with the Anschluss of Austria still fresh on people's mind. The drama consisted of news bulletins, starting with a strange flash on Mars and progressing to a Martian landing and a devastating war.

Many listeners were carried away by what they heard. The October 31 New York Times reported panic on the streets. While the media probably exaggerated the outcome of the drama, it differed considerably from the average Sunday picnic.

H. G. Wells (1866-1946) was an ardent evolutionist who believed that the Darwinian great story was fact and that end of human evolution was still nowhere in sight. The Time Machine (1895) discloses his views about ongoing human evolution. Like many contemporary Darwinists, he thought eugenics was the way to stop the degeneration of the human race.

It seems that today's Darwinists have also found a formula for stopping another form of degeneration - that of science itself.

Once again, there seems to be a panic of sorts in the air. Evolutionists have resorted to law suits and intimidation to silence dissidents because they believe that doubting Darwin will mean the end of all scientific progress. The European Council goes even further. It believes creationism is a threat to human rights. It is probably needless to add that to the Darwinist, creationism is a catchword that includes all forms of dissent from Darwin. Recently, the science journal Nature joined the fray, calling for more Darwinian education to stop the design pollution.

So, the question is: might there be some panic in the air?

Our Own Galaxy And Gas Cloud To Collide

When you receive the Seal you will begin to understand things from an eternal perspective. So you will be amazed to find out about a cloud of gas rushing toward our own galaxy due to be here in around 30 million years.

A giant cloud of hydrogen is on a collision course with our own galaxy, known as the "Milky Way" galaxy. And when they officially collide, in 20 to 40 million years, there will be a grand fireworks show in the night sky.

Even though it may still seem quite far away--8000 light years--it is actually quite close relative to the vast expanse of the entire universe. 8000 light years is truly close, and not far.

A light year is a distance and not a time. It is the distance light travels in one year, which is quite far in our humble opinion. We do not currently know of anything that travels faster than light.

This hydrogen cloud is far enough away that the light from stars in the Milky Way would take 8000 years to reach it. But it will take much longer than 8000 years to reach us. It is moving much more slowly than the speed of light.

The cloud, named Smith's Cloud, is only moving at 150 miles a second. That is pretty slow relative to many other objects in the universe. Nevertheless it is due to hit the Milky Way, and produce some spectacular effects.

It is likely that a number of stars will be formed when Smith's Cloud hits the Milky Way. And they will be massive stars, short lived, which will become supernovae at the end of their lives.

So there will be an Independence Day celebration going off in at least one part of the sky, choreographed at snail's pace, happening over the course of a few million years.

A supernova happens when a star explodes at the end of its life. It becomes quite bright for a short time, outshining all the surrounding stars in its galaxy before the flame dies down and it returns to relative dimness.

Until now, astronomers did not know much about Smith's Cloud. They did not know whether it were a part of the Milky Way or not. But a recent study has clarified everything about the heavenly body.

They pointed the Green Bank Telescope tens of thousands of times at Smith's Cloud, doing a detailed study of the hydrogen in it. And Smith's Cloud is big. It is about 30 times the diameter of the full moon.

The shape of Smith's Cloud is like a comet, and that shows it is coming into contact with the gases of the outer fringe of the Milky Way. Astronomers speculate that the gravity of the Milky Way may be starting to tear apart Smith's Cloud.

But it will hit the Milky Way in millions of years. It is not heading directly for the region of the sun and the planet earth. So it will cause fireworks in the night sky but it will not compromise life on earth.

When you are sealed you will begin to see the wonders of eternity. Tens of millions of years is a long time to wait for a show of bright explosions in the sky. But you will be able to wait--you will have the time when you are sealed.

Because when you are sealed you will live forever. God will grant you eternal Life. So you will be able to watch the progress of the universe as millions of years pass when you receive the Seal.

Photovoltaic cells, or photovoltaic devices (PV devices) as they are called are very much like batteries and they generate direct current (DC) which is generally used for small loads used for light electronic equipment. Inverters are solid state devices that convert DC power to AC which in needed in the stead of DC for some applications, especially commercial uses. The performance of a photovoltaic array is absolutely and totally dependent upon sunlight and climate conditions. Climate conditions, including clouds and fog, have a significant effect on the amount of solar energy received by a photovoltaic device and its performance. Most current technology photovoltaic modules are about 10 percent efficient in converting sunlight. Further research is being conducted to raise this efficiency to 20 percent. In a car, there might be parts that I do not care about. It is only in cases where my physical safety is concerned that I am really particular. And instead of being paranoid, I choose to be informed.

So, this article is about Aircraft parts. Knowledge and familiarity should clear some apprehensions that ignorance might create.

You know what a plane looks like. So, we go from the front to the back. To begin with, we have the cockpit. This is where the pilot sits and controls the craft. Hence, all navigational controls end up here. This is the heart of all avionics, which is a contraction for aviation electronics. Maybe, I should call it the brain of all avionics as only the final controls reside in the cockpit.

Other than navigational controls, communication and cabin controls are also predominantly available in the cockpit. So, expect to see a lot of dials, knobs, screens, light emitting diodes, bulbs, and switches. If you have ever had an opportunity to look inside a cockpit, even if you were only looking at a photograph, you would certainly have marveled at the extent of gadgetry involved.

Behind the cockpit is the rest of the fuselage, which is the body of the plane. All professions like to create words that make them exclusive. So, while an automobile engineer missed out on an opportunity, the aeronautical engineer chose to call the plane body a fuselage.

As expected, the body presents the physical structure to the plane. But it is not a passive piece of equipment as in the case of a car. Instead, it has sensors for detecting what the outside conditions are like. Additionally, it has signaling and communication equipment connected to it.

Then comes the hardworking engine, the part that needs to be the most reliable. It goes without saying that this is where all the muscle is. In addition to providing the rotors and propellers and thrust and torque, the degree of automation in an aeroplane engine is extremely high. Not just should a pilot as well as the auto-pilot, be able to constantly monitor the performance of the engine, they should actually be able to control and influence it.

In this sequence, we then reach the wings of the plane. Any flying body needs to have wings, unless it is a projectile, such as a rocket. These wings provide balance, stability, and maneuverability. Since wings needs to be mechanically manipulated, they are full of control systems, valves, bearing, pressure points, buffers, and the like.

To continue my simplistic travel down the aircraft's body, let us reach the very end. We are now at the tail. Like the wing it provides stability and balance. But the tail, more specifically the rudder, plays a pivotal role in turning the plane. This mechanism is not like that of a rudder-based boat that has the luxury of traveling in a dense medium, water. But there are similarities.

All in all, the schema of the parts of an airplane is fairly obvious. This does not at all mean that the effect of flying is anything less than monumental.

How To Get Into Amateur Astronomy With Tasco Telescopes

If you want to get your first astronomy telescope, then a Tasco telescope may be what you are looking for. These basic telescope have helped many people get there foot into being able to view the heavens from there own back yards.

I remember a Tasco telescope from Toys R Us. Walking down the isles around the science section, there was a telescope. I simply had to get it the Tasco telescope. After all I had a fond interest in seeing the Moon, stars and other space objects.

Having taken the Tasco telescope home, and pointing the Tasco telescope to the sky, from my bedroom, it took a bit to get used to. I used the Tasco telescope for a while, though it just wasn't capable of seeing other planets in any detail or size So, the telescope got taken back.

I have since found that many people start with a Tasco telescope, then few years later buy a true telescope such as Meade. The experience of owning a Tasco telescope may not be the best but it does allow easy access to start your astronomy hobby.

Tasco telescopes are considered to be one of the basic most popular first astronomy telescopes for under $100. Tasco telescope also make binoculars, rifle scopes and spotting scopes. They are easily available in sporting goods, photography, astronomy, department, and big chain stores like Kmart and Wal-Mart.

I usually don't recommend buying a Tasco telescope, because of its basic parts. A telescope is a scientific instrument after all, and getting better telescope parts, will have the effect of giving you many years of happy viewing of the heavens. A Tasco telescope does have its benefits however. If it is your first astronomy telescope and you don't know if you want to continue the hobby of astronomy, then a Tasco telescope may be ideal.

If you don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a telescope, then a Tasco telescope can be ideal. Also a Tasco telescope is usually small and compact so doesn't need a lot of space when using or to store the telescope.

Tasco telescopes are lightweight and can be easily moved around. This is great news for kids, as the telescope can easily be taken inside or outside with ease. This however is not all good, as a lightweight tripod and mount can make even the slightest breeze move the telescope out of view of the space object.

The main reasons for buying a Tasco telescope would be, if you want to keep within a certain budget. If it is your first astronomy telescope, then a powerful telescope costing several hundred dollars or even possibly several thousand dollars, may not be an avenue you want to enter. Though remember for best results, get the best telescope you can. A Tasco telescope is cheap and cheerful, the Tasco telescope can be used to look at objects in the sky, and also for wildlife viewing.

Anthropomorphism vs. Anthropodenial

Anthropomorphism is described as applying human emotional characteristics and thought processes to nonhumans. Conversely, Anthropodenial, as it is defined in this article, is what occurs when we deny animals these characteristics and furthermore ignore the fact that we ourselves are animals and should be denied these characteristics when talking about ourselves as well, if we were to use a truly logical and scientific approach when studying the behavior of humans.

It is understandable how we could arrive at a point in which we elevate our mental and emotional capabilities above those of other animals, although it is somewhat unfair. We have no real insight into the psyche of other species as none of us is a member of another species, and as they cannot communicate to us the nature of their thought processes we are forced to learn by observation. Humans can be observed as well, but inferences about their feelings and emotions are much more readily accepted as they are feelings and emotions most likely shared by all of us. Our proof of their existence is that we have experienced them ourselves. But just because we cannot directly experience something does not mean it isn't there.

It is most acceptable to describe the behavior of animals in terms of stimulus and response. It is believed that they must learn all behavior through a system of rewards and punishments. Much of human behavior (especially cultural) can be attributed to this same logic, however we accept emotions, feelings, and independent thought processes as underlying currents in our behavior as well. If we were to be at all fair in studying ourselves, we would force ourselves to think of every human action as a reaction to a stimulus, which we learned (via reward and punishment) from the other humans we are in contact with. But we acknowledge the other driving forces in ourselves despite the fact that we are not being consistent in our research methods as compared to our observations of nonhumans.

In an article titled "Flo and Her Family" Jane Goodall describes numerous interactions between a group of chimpanzees. Most notable is that the majority of interactions described in this article occur between members of one family, four siblings all sharing the same mother. The mother-child bond between the chimps can be explained physiologically, as they are dependent on their mother for survival while they are young, but the siblings also seem to have a bond amongst themselves. The fact that they primarily seek out companionship from those related to them would imply that there is an emotional bond between them. They did live in a group of chimpanzees, but still sought out the most contact from their known siblings (being that there would be no way for them to know if they were related to other chimpanzees through their fathers).

Also notable about this article is Fifi's apparent fixation on her younger brother Flint. She is described as having a genuine interest in him. How can her interest be described in terms of learned behavior? How come she does not have the same interest in other chimpanzee infants? I'm sure that these can be explained at length by a complex system of reward and punishment, but were they a human family, we would not feel the need to do so.

In an article "No Time for Bullies: Baboons Retool Their Culture" by Natalie Angier a troop of baboons is portrayed as being unusually passive ever since all of the most aggressive males were killed of by tuberculosis. This peaceful state has remained for generations in this particular troop, and is attributed to their attitude. They even say that this peaceful attitude is transmitted to other entering male members of the troop, who must abide if they want to live in this troop. To say that these baboons have a certain attitude is to apply a "human" characteristic to them, but also this term could be considered the summation of a number of different factors. One could say these baboons have a natural predisposition toward passiveness, or that they learned it from their parents, but to apply the term attitude is simply a shortcut to explain what seems obvious to us. We would not go to such lengths to define a particular attitude in a human, and I am glad to see that it was so easily applied to baboons in this article.

Even in the article by Dian Fossey, "Karisoke Field Impressions", which is written very objectively, the gorillas are given human characteristics at times. She depicts incidents in which she was charged by an angry gorilla (or gorillas) and that her solution was to stand her ground because the gorillas were bluffing. The majority of this article is simply observation with minimal inference to any human-like characteristics the gorillas may or may not possess, but this instance of calling the gorillas bluff implies that they are capable of deception, albeit as a defense mechanism.

I think that researchers would be most scientific if they were to use the same system of behavioral analyses for all life forms. The fact that we elevate ourselves above other animals in this way seems almost biblical in nature, and therefore seems extremely biased as well. In the name of fairness we need to learn a way to apply some "human" characteristics to animals (especially those who so closely resemble ourselves), as it would be impossible to avoid making emotional inferences while observing human behavior.

Monkey Brain Trains Robot For Rehab

When you receive the Seal you will have the power to recover from whatever ill befalls you. Now there is good news if you are paralyzed--a monkey has successfully controlled the walking of a robot with his thoughts.

Duke University researchers teamed up with the Japan Science and Technology Agency and accomplished the feat halfway across the world. The monkey walked in North Carolina and the robot walked in Japan.

The monkey Idoya was a rhesus monkey. Rhesus monkeys are small, never weighing more than about 25 pounds. So Idoya walked on a tiny treadmill made specially for the little monkey.

The robot in Japan walked synchronized in real time with the monkey. The robot was 5 feet tall and walked on its own treadmill exactly in step with the little monkey thousands of miles away.

Idoya was outfitted with electrodes that read signals from her brain. The brain cells sent motor and sensory signals through the electrodes into the electronic equipment which processed them and instructed the robot how to walk.

When you are paralyzed your nervous system is damaged and no longer can carry the signals that originate in the brain and end up commanding the limbs of the body how to move.

But your brain continues to send those messages even when the circuit is cut and those messages can not reach the limbs. Since your brain is still sending those messages, all you need is prosthetic devices to walk and move again.

By studying the signals Idoya's brain sent to the electrodes, researchers discovered that neurons in different parts of the brain send signals in different "phases" and frequencies.

And at one point in the experiment, the robot continued walking even after Idoya had stopped walking. So the monkey was thinking about walking more even after having stopped walking.

The goal is to build prosthetic devices that can enable a paralyzed person to move. But that goal is not enough. There is a grander dream that goes along with it.

The brain can talk to the machines. The dream is to find out how the machines can respond to the brain. That way the brain could sense the feeling of touch through sensors in the machine.

It is a little chilling to see the possibilities of the interaction of machines and the vital organs of people. It definitely seems a little like science fiction, but today it is no more fiction. Today it is becoming a reality.

When you are sealed God will give you power to recover from all sorts of diseases and illnesses. Sometimes you will need the help of physicians and counselors, and even, in a case like this, of engineers.

But God will give you the power of recovery, and you will be able to recover against all odds. You will be able to move mountains like genetic predisposition to disease. You can overcome that.

And though you must die at some point you will lengthen your life when you are sealed. You will live a longer and better life today, and you will have the promise of eternal Life when you receive the Seal
